Digital identity
The profile of data points that institutions and platforms collect and use to represent, verify, or predict an individual’s behavior online. It includes demographic information, search history, biometric data, and algorithmic categorizations. It may only partially reflect the real person but is treated by systems as authoritative. Digital identity is created when this information is collected, verified, and used to access online services (Sullivan & Tyson, 2023).

Lived identity
The everyday, felt sense of who a person is, shaped by how they understand themselves and how they adjust their behavior in response to the systems and expectations around them.
